Following the successful Community Shares awareness raising seminars in London, Birmingham and Manchester, an additional event is being organised by the Development Trusts Association (DTA) in the NORTH EAST.

Community Shares is an action-research project investigating the potential for raising capital from communities for community-owned projects. The project is a joint initiative between the Department of Communities and Local Government and the Office of the Third Sector. It is being delivered by the Development Trust Association and Co-operativesUK. Over the next two years the project will support ten demonstration projects raising investment capital through the sale of shares and/or bonds to their communities.
This seminar will introduce you to the practice of community investment, and the aims of the Community Shares project. It will explain how you can get involved in Community Shares, and how to get your project selected as one of the ten demonstration projects.
